Pagani Huayra

Pagani Huayra Picture 1

Pagani Huayra Picture 2

Ah, supercars. They truly belong in a world of their own. They command respect and admiration from every car enthusiast, and for most guys they are just one of those things that you simply cannot have. But we do have our own little dreams, and if dreaming about superfast cars is your thing, so be it.

In a world dominated by legendary vehicles such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Bugatti, and Porsche, the name Pagani may seem obscure. But for connoisseurs who appreciate revolutionary designs and heart-stopping performance from a supercar then Pagani certainly belongs to the top of the supercars hierarchy.

This Pagani legacy is defined in its latest offering, the 2011 Pagani Huayra (pronounced why-eera).

History

There is no doubt that Zonda is the model that made Pagani into the company that it is today. Car enthusiasts and newsmen from around the world hailed its aggressive and never-seen-before aerodynamic design. It was so successful that it gave birth to rarities like the Cinque and the Zonda F.

All that hoopla is nothing compared to the groundbreaking entrance of the Huayra, as some say that while the Zonda was evolutionary, the Huayra is revolutionary.

Just like the Zonda, the Huayra is also named after a South American wind. So it is not surprising that aerodynamics play a key role in the Huayra’s design and engineering. Yes, the Huayra will replace the remarkable Zonda and we will see why the Huayra is deserving of all the hype.

Performance

Pagani partnered with the engine gods at Mercedes Benz AMG in building the Huayra’s unique twin turbocharged 6.0L V12 engine. The result is a peak output of 700hp at a low 5,000 rpm generating a behemoth 811 lb-ft torque at just 3,500 rpm.

That burst of power comes careening to the rear wheels through an X-trac seven-speed sequential transmission while still maintaining a pollution-friendly carbon emission. This makes the Huayra Euro 5 compliant.

Providing stopping power to all that raging speed are special rear air brakes made from high-tech carbon-titanium material.

Interior & Exterior

The Pagani Huayra has a carbon-titanium shell making for a light supercar at in the vicinity of 2700 pounds.

Being a true blue Zonda offspring, Huayra still features gull-wing doors as those found in the Mercedes SLS. But unlike the Zonda, the cumbersome wing at the rear is taken out and the rectangular horizontal tail lights have been taken down in favor of circular tail lights positioned at a higher level. Huayra now also features different grilles.

Despite being built like a powerhouse machine, the Huayra does not scrimp on luxury when it comes to its interior amenities. The craftsmanship and materials used in its cabin is simply breath taking. Plush leather, aluminum and glass trimmings, and a multi-function steering wheel that allows the driver to cruise at break neck speeds without taking his hands off the wheel- these luxurious offerings all contribute to making the Huayra look like a masterpiece in every way.

Huayra’s piece de resistance is its high-definition multimedia system that features a central touch screen. This touch screen allows the driver to control all important controls of the car such as audio adjustments, Bluetooth control, and satellite navigation.

More

Only 20 Pagani Huayra’s will be available for sale each year at a cost of $1.3M. It will also be available for sale in the U.S. which is good news as Paganis were previously unavailable in the U.S.

2012 Lumma Design Porsche Carrera 991 CLR 9 S

The 2012 Porsche Carrera 991 CLR 9 S by Lumma Design is one of several 911 (991) Porsche Carrera modified versions displayed in Geneva’s Auto Show in Switzerland this year.

Other companies like RUF, Gembella, SpeedArt and others exhibited their redesigned versions of the popular Porsche Carrera, but Lumma Design's model especially impressed most people mainly due to its subtle changes to the look of the car, while maintaining Porsche's integrity.

Exterior

When Lumma Design, a company from Winterlingen, Germany, approached the task of redesigning a 911 Porsche Carrera, they decided to focus primarily on changing the look and style of the car. The greatest improvement to the Porsche's driving performance came from Lumma Design's enhancement of the car's aerodynamics with unique CLR components.

The three part spoiler lip added to the rear of the 2012 Porsche Carrera 991 CLR 9 S by Lumma Design is the key to increasing the down force on the rear axle of the car. Just this one change boosts the handling significantly at higher speeds, giving the car's overall performance an extra edge.

Another added touch, among others, on the exterior of the 2012 Porsche Carrera 991 CLR 9 S by Lumma Design is new ultra-light alloyed rims on the wheels, available in the colors silver and black, that weigh no more than 25 pounds in their biggest size.

Interior

The interior of the 2012 Porsche Carrera 991 CLR 9 S by Lumma Design looks completely new and sportier, redone in leather and Alcantara material with the colors red and black. Alcantara has been primarily used for driver's seats of Formula One cars due to its flame retardant properties, and with a texture similar to suede, it adds a very stylish touch to the overall interior.

The steering wheel is made more enjoyable for the driver with its new ergonomic design and black Alcantara material covering for extra grip. The aluminum driving pedals are now equipped with rubber studs so that they are extra slip-resistant.

All in all, the 2012 Porsche Carrera 991 CLR 9 S by Lumma Design is a very tasteful rendition of a favorite Porsche.

2012 Rolls Royce Two-Tone Ghost

It is probably fair to say that not many people buy a Rolls-Royce Ghost because they want their car to appear inconspicuous on the road.

However, for those few for whom the standard Ghost is somehow not sufficiently eye-catching, it is, after all, smaller than its Phantom brother - there's a special edition that is guaranteed to stand out wherever it goes: the 2012 Rolls-Royce Two-Tone Ghost.

Luxury & Style

A Rolls-Royce would not be a Rolls-Royce if it were not a very special car to climb into and the Two-Tone Ghost takes this feeling to a new level. The company has described it as "a work of art", and looking at it, it's hard to disagree.

The paintwork is a stunning blend of Infinity Black and Cassiopeia Silver, while little details such as carpets made of the finest lambs wool add to the sense of occasion a lucky owner will experience.

Performance

The all-new turbocharged V12, 6.6-liter engine produces more than 560 horsepower, enough to shift this 2.5-ton leviathan from a standstill to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited in some markets, but 155 mph is likely to be it, as the company used to say in years gone by, "sufficient."

Driver Friendly

It's no longer the case that a Rolls-Royce is aimed only at customers who prefer to be chauffeured around town. These days, the company places a much stronger emphasis on the driving experience too, and so the Two-Tone Ghost's rear-wheel drive transmission provides precise and satisfying feedback.

This is never going to be a cheap car to run - it is said to return between 13 and 20 mpg, depending on the driving environment - but then, the 2012 Rolls-Royce Two-Tone Ghost is unlikely to be purchased by those who worry about gas prices.

Saleen 435S Mustang

The 2010 Saleen 435S Mustang is another one of a kind automobile that is out in the market today. It is currently distributed by the company that goes by the name of Saleen Inc. It is based on the current 2010 Ford Mustang. The 2010 Saleen 435S Mustang is a limited edition two-door coupe, modified car. It has a front engine, a 4600 cc displacement and is charged with 435 horsepower. With a 5-speed manual transmission, the 2010 Saleen 435S Mustang is a one of a kind vehicle. It weighs around 3401 lbs and is approximately 188.1 inches in length. This car is slightly lower than the Mustang GT because of its Saleen Racecraft suspension. The design provides precise handling and better traction.

2010 Saleen 435S Mustang 480

The 2010 Saleen 435S Mustang is designed to provide a high-value performance automobile at an affordable price. This car has a 4.6 liter, 3-valve SOHC V8 engine. The engine produces its horsepower and the 425 lb-ft torque. If you are a car enthusiast, you will definitely want one of these automobile. Having one of this will give you the pleasure that a race car driver on a real-world road would want.

2012 Ford Shelby GT500

Nothing has changed from the 2011 edition of the Shelby GT500 except for three things.

Although the engine is a carryover from last year and it is still the same supercharged and intercooled 550HP 5.4 liter as well as the Shelby body that sold out all 5,500 that was earmarked for it last year, one difference from last year to this version is the SVT designed Recaro front seats.

As we all know, Recaro is one of the most easily recognizable seat makers in the world. This time, Recaro made their mark with the 2012 GT500 as the official seat maker for this model. The seats featured are a semi bucket design with additional support that bolsters the side for maximum comfort and lateral support.

Revisions

Another change for 2012 is the implementation of a selectable steering assist. This system was made possible because of the use of an electric power steering system that is used to help with the steering of the car. Unlike previous types of power steering assists, the electric power steering uses electric motors and load or speed sensors that are connected to the ecu in order to determine how much steering assistance to provide to the driver.

With the 2012 model, the driver has the ability to choose how much steering assistance that they want, to cater to their driving style on the road or the track.

The final addition is the Applink which allows the built in voice recognition software to properly understand the commands of the driver.

Spyker C8 Aileron

The 2011 Spyker C8 Aileron was initially launched as a “concept vehicle” during the 2009 Geneva Motor Show. The C8 Aileron was among the few European cars built months before its launch in May 2009. The car is powered by two transmission types: The “6-Speed Getrag” manual gearbox and “ZF 6 Speed” automatic gearbox. The 6-Speed Getrag comprises of ratios matched with the engine output while the ZF 6 Speed has standardized paddle shifters attached behind the steering wheel for automatic transmission.

As of February 2011, the latest C8 Aileron cars are available in the market after a series of delays caused hundreds of Spyker fans to turn down the company’s formal launch. According to Spyker Cars, the 2011 Spyker C8 Aileron will be officially launched during the 2011 Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland.

Since 2000, Spyker Cars continues to gain regard in manufacturing premium sports cars. In 2008, the company marked their 8th year in the business by presenting a prototype of the C8 Aileron in the Geneva Motor Show. The unveiling of the C8 Aileron’s prototype was spearheaded by Victor Muller, Founder and CEO of Spyker Cars.

2012 SSC Tuatara

2012 awaits the entry of the newest offering from Shelby Super Cars (SSC), the 2012 SSC Tuatara. This car is aimed to unseating the Bugatti Veyron SS as the fastest car in the world. Jerod Shelby, founder and CEO of SSC, unveiled the Tuatara in the presence of a few people from the industry. Jerod Shelby is not related to Carroll Shelby, the legend behind all those muscle cars. The name of this supercar is derived from the Maori language that describes a resident reptile from New Zealand, Tuatara, means “peaks at the back.”
Specifications Vehicle Type: SuperCar Base Price: $970,000.00
Engine: 7-liter quad cam, twin turbo V8 Horsepower: 1350 hp
Max RPM: 9000 rpm Curb Weight: 2646 lbs (1200 kg)
Displacement: 7-liter Aspiration: Turbo
0-60 mph: 2.8 seconds Projected Maximum Speed: 275 mph (442 kmh) (Not yet tested!)

Shelby and his team of 16 engineers have put their skills together to produce a high performance production vehicle in the SSC Tuatara by highlighting this rear wheel drive, 1,350 horsepower speedster. SSC produced the Ultimate Aero that was able to topple the record established by the Bugatti Veyron. In 2007, the Ultimate Aero TT had a run of 256 mph on a four mile stretch of a Texas carriageway. The Volkswagen owned Bugatti, not to be denied, came back with the Veyron SS (Super Sport) and clocked a record 267 mph.

With the Tuatara, Shelby SuperCars intends to reclaim that distinction of being the fastest car in the world, by aiming for a record setting 275 mph.

Performance

As for the engine, Jerod Shelby’s team of engineers has come up with a rear wheel drive, quad cam (four valves per cylinder OHC), twin turbo V8 engine. This 7 Liter engine produces 1350 HP and revs up to 9000 rpm.

Braking is aided by traction control, ABS with servo assistance, and the use of carbon ceramic brakes by Brembo. It comes in at 2646 lbs (1200 kgs) curb weight, which puts it at 1407 lbs(638 kgs) lighter than the Veyron. Little, if any, change has been done on the suspension in which SSC keeps the coil over setup intact along with the triple plate carbon clutch mechanism.

Expectations are high on this new SSC Tuatara, with all those horses; zero to sixty mph should come in under 2.8 seconds. It has been claimed that its top speed will be at 275 mph, hang on to your seats for the final results.

Exterior

The body design of the Tuatara was rendered by Jason Castriota, an Italian-American designer who has been instrumental in creating some of the best looking cars in the world. Among his creations include the best in the industry, Bertone, Ferrari, Rolls Royce, and Pininfarina. Castriota was unsure whether he wanted to take on the challenge presented to him by Jerod Shelby in designing this latest from SSC.

When he did take up the challenge, the result has become the ideal in combining form and function. The black teardrop shaped canopy splashed amid the white body provides a contrast in style and power. The classic shape allows it for a minimum of drag. Dihedral stabilizers (wings) add to the Tuatara’s performance and look. The winglets located in the rear not only improve aerodynamics, but also keeps the car together as it speeds up to 200 miles per hour.

Body and chassis are made of carbon fiber, except for those impact areas in the front and rear of the Tuatara. It also has oval cut outs in varying sizes that help release heat produced by the engine through the body. The Tuatara features an F-1 looking exhaust that functions as a diffuser in the rear. When looking down at this low slung supercar, the Tuatara can seem intimidating.

Interior

No one really knows what to expect what the interior of the Tuatara will look like. The total interior design has not been completed. It will have the necessary features in driving a two seater, such as the seatbelts and auto air-conditioner.

Speculation has it that the inside of the Tuatara will live up to its reputation in addition to providing easy viewing and access LCD central displays.

The Competition

There is little competition in this area of supercars. The SSC Tuatara is expected to be priced at $970,000, while the Bugatti Veyron SS rings the bell at $2.4 million. If you have extra to spend, the other potential alternative is the Koenigsegg Agera, $1.5 million.

Whichever way you go, you have an international choice at your disposal; the SSC Tuatara from the USA, Bugatti Veyron SS from Germany, and the Swedish Koenigsegg Agera. Whether you’re looking for a showroom vehicle or one for the racetrack, chances are the Tuatara will push its competitors once again to the limits, watch for this fastest evolving DNA creation from SSC.

The car has two leather seats by Alcantara which are placed side by side with 2 inches of space in between. The floor and sides of the interior of the car has the surface that is like an exposed welds in car shows. Also, it has a simple design on its dash panel which securely houses the gauges and air source. Other key things on the interior of Ultima GTR are the designs and positioning of billet shifter, steering wheels, and 3 pedals. There are also some optional features that could be imbedded on it, such as heater, air conditioner and safety cage.

Performance

Ultima GTR in terms of its acceleration put up a great competition with other supercars with its LSI V8 engine. It has an initial speed that could go to 64 miles per hour in just 3.3 seconds, and a maximum speed of 231 miles per hour. According to Daton Technologies, the supplier of timekeeping systems for the Guinness Book of World Record; those speed records will surely blow the mind of Ultima GTR users.

Despite the car’s great features, it also has its disadvantages, such as the fact that it’s too pricey and it has some safety issues. Those disadvantages surely didn’t diminish the great features of the car. This means that Ultima GTR is still a lovable supercar.
